Infinix note 4 sound quality is decent and has a longer battery life. Infinix is a young brand which has just surfaced into the Indian market with their budget smartphone. Infinix note 4 is priced at Rs. 9,000 to compete with brands like Motorola, Yu, and Xiaomi in the budget smartphone category. The launch date of Infinix note 4 in India is 3rd August 2017. The model number of Infinix note 4 we had was x572.
Infinix Note 4 sports a large 5.7-inch Full HD screen and is backed by a big 4300 mAh battery which also supports fast charging. The smartphone takes a good picture, runs on the latest Android Nougat and also comes equipped with a fingerprint scanner. This phone competes directly with Moto E4 Plus with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB internal memory. The main highlight of this phone is its bigger battery, better camera, decent sound quality, and its aggressive pricing. In our overall user experience, the phone performed very well especially in camera segment and we didn’t have much issue apart from some minor gaming performance lag so we give this phone a score of 4 out of 5. Let’s see the detailed review of this phone.
The design of the phone is not going to impress you much, the plastic body seems a little disappointing for a device competing with phones like Moto E4 Plus or Redmi note 4 or the Yureka Black but the shiny back panel looks nice. Watch Moto E4 Plus vs Infinix Note 4 here. Since the back panel is made of plastic, it is easily susceptible to scratches and fingerprints. Maybe this is the reason Infinix is providing a protective case and screen guard with the phone. At the back, you will see a camera in the center and an LED Flash below that. The dimension of Infinix note 4 is 159mm x 78.8mm x 8.4mm.
At the front, you will see a 5.7-inch Full HD Display. The fingerprint sensor is resting below the display which also works as a home button. We get a pair of capacitive buttons for multitasking and going back on either side of home button which couples a fingerprint sensor too. Front camera with the front flash is placed above the display with the ambient light sensor and earpiece on either side.
At the bottom, there is a micro-USB charging port with two speaker grills on either side. Though output is coming from only one speaker which makes it a mono speaker. The thickness of Infinix note 4 is 8.4mm and weight is around 204 grams. The back panel of the phone is removable but it is not easy to remove though. Beneath the back panel, it has a massive non-removable 4300 mAh battery along with 2 micro-sims and a dedicated micro SD card slot.
It has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD Display with a 1920 x 1080p resolution. The screen is 2.5D curved for nice grip around the edges. Infinix note 4 doesn’t come with a gorilla glass protection but it is fairly scratch resistant. The touch of Infinix note 4 is pretty smooth. The screen is bright in indoor and the sunlight readability is also good, colors on the screen are a bit over saturated but you can tweak the display color from an inbuilt MiraVision option in display settings. The viewing angles are quite good. You will find slim black borders around the display but it is not much noticeable. So, the overall display quality of Infinix note 4 is quite good.
The Speakers of Infinix Note 4 is loud. Like really loud! You won’t hear any distortion and the sound quality is very clear. What I liked the most about audio quality is, there is not too much bass. I had a great time listening to my favorite songs. Coming to the battery life this phone does a good job, the battery life of Infinix note 4 is awesome and charging is really fast, it took about 30 mins to charge about 40% battery in our experience. Battery capacity is 4300mAh. The standby time is great. It can definitely last a full day with heavy usage, there is also an ultra-power saving feature which can also improve the longevity of the battery. The only thing which kills its nice battery performance here is that it gets heated while charging. This was the only charging issue we faced in Infinix note 4.
The camera does an amazing job compared to other phones. The rear camera is 13MP with f/2.2 aperture lens and the front camera is 8MP, both the cameras come with flash. Infinix note 4 has the best camera quality in this price range. The picture quality is great, autofocus is quick, the back camera can take good macro shots with bokeh effect. Camera performance of Infinix note 4 in low light is quite decent. We are impressed by the selfie it captures even in low light but low light photographs from the rear camera have lots of noise so it depends on the light source to take good pictures. The camera comes with various shooting modes like wide selfie, photo in photo mode that lets you capture from both the camera simultaneously, beauty mode, HDR, and smile shot. The video recording is limited to 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The phone is average in terms of performance, it is powered by MediaTek octa-core processor which is slightly better than Moto E4 Plus. It has 3GB of RAM to handle multi-tasking and 32GB internal storage to store all your apps and media files. We played Asphalt 8 on this phone just to find out how this phone scales in terms of performance, and as expected from the old CPU, the Asphalt 8 lags on the high graphics setting, on medium setting it is fairly playable but on low graphics setting it doesn’t have any issue running it. But, we faced some heating issue in Infinix note 4 while gaming.
Fingerprint unlocking is fast and this phone is slightly faster than Moto E4 Plus and even in better in camera. There are some gestures and actions that comes pre-loaded in this phone. Like “wave to unlock” “taking a screenshot with 3 finger swipe” and “double tap to wake” is also supported. Various sensors are packed into this phone including compass, gyroscope and light sensor.
Infinix Note 4 also has a multicolor led notification light which quickly notifies you when you have an unread notification. And just like the OnePlus 5 there are several features that this phone supports one of them is a “pocket lock” named as “inadvertent mode” to keep phone locked in pocket, there is also a DND mode which disables the navigation buttons while playing game, It also supports scrolling screenshot and comes with a screen recorder built right in the OS. If that was not enough, Infinix also took care of a most demanded feature, Note 4 has a separate volume sliders for notifications and call ringer. The loudspeaker at the bottom is very loud too.
The phone doesn’t have a stock android, it comes with Android Nougat 7.0 running on the skin of XOS, the UI isn’t much different from the stock. Infinix note 4 also comes with many bloatware apps but some of them can be uninstalled if you don’t like it. Overall the phone performs very smoothly on the day to day usage, but you won’t find any night mode on Infinix note 4. This device runs on XOS chameleon operating system which is a customized user interface that can be optimized by the user. The XOS is said to be the most secure with its unique security measures, it has a fingerprint manager which can be used to take photos accept calls and even to browse through images. This custom UI introduced by Infinix has many more features locked in it. You will find some on-screen and off-screen gestures on Infinix note 4 like double tap to wake up. Android Oreo update is not guaranteed but the phone will receive bug fixes regularly.
So coming to the verdict, the phone packs all the top specs and sensors in the price range of 9,000 rupees and handles multi-tasking very smoothly, the battery lasts for a full day and it has the best camera too. This phone is a tough competition to Moto E4 plus and it also comes at 1000 rupees cheaper. Some of the competitors of Infinix Note 4 are Redmi Note 4, Moto E4 Plus, Yu Yureka Black.
